Ten individuals convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced charges of disseminating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's significant age difference.

The court issued conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A persistent conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their complaint states that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these allegations on her podcast and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she was a teacher at his high school.

The pair married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
