Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.
Now working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since that period of that year.
Success also means he has won twenty-one victories at 21 various events.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an better serving game.
The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.
Moutet defended four initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
